Inspired by…the structure and transformation of rock from the a field into sculptural rhythmic motion encircling the stone.

Soapstone Sculpture
Private Collection
The sculpting process began with digging and transporting the stone to the studio. All stones have unique properties, this soapstone had iron pockets and veins throughout the stone. To reach the final stage the stone had to be carved with a chisel, sanded multiple times, waxed and buffed.
The soapstone sculpture Rhythmic Motion in Stone won the first place sculpture award in the Greenville Technical College Visual Arts Student Show. The student competition showcases visual artwork of Greenville Technical students across all visual art media. The student exhibition was at the Benson Gallery II, Greenville Technical College followed in 2021 by a show at the Kroc Center, Greenville, SC.
